1. Information Daolsoft does not collect itself
Daol Music has no Daolsoft-operated account, sync server, analytics SDK, or remote configuration. Daolsoft does not collect music files, playlists, favorites, listening history, search terms, or voice recordings on its own servers through the app. Google advertising SDK processing is described separately below.
2. Google advertising and consent
The app uses the Google Mobile Ads Next-Gen SDK to display app-open ads. According to Google’s disclosure, the SDK may automatically collect or share the following information for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, security, and compliance.
- IP addresses that may estimate a device’s approximate location
- App interactions such as launches, taps, and ad views
- Diagnostics such as app and SDK launch time, hang rate, and energy usage
- Android advertising ID, app set ID, and applicable device identifiers
- Information is encrypted in transit with TLS. Where consent is required, Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) presents choices before an ad request. When required, choices can be managed again from Ad privacy options in app Settings.
3. Voice recognition and external music search
- Voice search starts only after the user taps the microphone button and grants permission. The app uses the Android system speech recognizer, so voice data may be sent to the device’s speech-service provider under that provider’s policy. The app does not retain recordings or send them to a Daolsoft server.
- Song queries are sent directly to the MusicBrainz search service. Album art is loaded directly from Cover Art Archive or the relevant image server. IP addresses and ordinary network information may reach those services.
- The app does not translate recognition results into a particular language. It extracts search intent and a likely title from the returned text, then selects the single closest song.
4. Music information processed on the device
- The app reads the title, artist, album, duration, and storage location of audio files the user has allowed it to access in order to build the music library.
- Playlists, favorites, listening history, current playback state, and app settings are stored on the device.
- Android media playback services handle audio and may integrate with playback controls on the lock screen, notifications, and connected media devices.
5. Information stored on the device
- Playlists, favorites, recent listening history, and app settings
- Recent search results, including voice searches, and local music identifiers needed for playback
- Launch count and last ad display time used to limit app-open ad frequency
- Advertising consent choices managed by Google UMP
- This information is held in the app’s local data stores. The app does not copy music files; they remain in their original locations.
6. Permissions
| Permission | Purpose | When requested |
|---|---|---|
| Music and audio | Build and play the on-device music library | Android permission when the music library is first used |
| Microphone | Voice search started by the user | Android permission when the microphone button is first used |
| Notifications | Show playback state and media controls | When playback notifications are needed on Android 13+ |
| Internet and network state | Music search, artwork, advertising, and consent messages | Declared at install; no runtime prompt |
| Foreground media playback | Continue playback while the screen is off or another app is in use | Declared at install; system indicator while playing |
The app does not request phone, SMS, contacts, or precise location permission. Denying microphone permission does not prevent browsing and playing music already on the device.
7. Retention and deletion
- Playlists, favorites, listening history, and settings may remain until deleted in the app, app storage is cleared in Android settings, or the app is uninstalled.
- Music files remain in device storage and are not removed merely by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
- Daolsoft stores no remote music account or listening dataset, so there is no remote Daolsoft account data to delete.
- Google advertising consent and advertising-identifier choices can be managed through Ad privacy options in the app and the device’s Google advertising settings.
8. Security and third parties
The app uses HTTPS for network communication and does not embed secrets in code. Google Mobile Ads, the Android system speech recognizer, MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive, and the device operating system have their own terms and privacy policies.
9. Changes and contact
We will update this policy before shipping remote collection, an account or sync service, a new SDK, or materially different data processing. Contact devsky@daolsoft.net with privacy questions.
