1. Scope

This policy covers the PPT Pointer Android app, PC script preparation website and optional Windows companion. PPT Pointer is intended for presenters aged 13 and older. It has no account registration or separate usage analytics SDK. You can use its core features without entering a name or email address.

2. Scripts and on-device storage

Scripts you write or import, edits, reading position and preferences stay in app-private storage. Temporary source-file copies are cleaned after import or cancellation; leftovers from an interrupted import are cleaned at the next app start. Exported or shared copies remain under your control.

Recent PC references, aliases and command profiles are stored on the device for reconnection. We do not include them, scripts or recordings in ad requests. App data is configured to be excluded from Android backup and device transfer.

3. Bluetooth and live PC notes

The remote sends keyboard and mouse input to your PC over Bluetooth. The optional Windows companion reads the current slide, notes and available control state of the open PowerPoint presentation you select, and sends them to your phone over encrypted Bluetooth. This path does not use the cloud or modify the original presentation. Live notes are displayed in phone memory without replacing saved scripts.

4. Optional recording

The microphone is used only when you choose to record and grant permission. Manual recording is the default. Automatic recording and continued recording with the screen off or another app open are separate settings. Continued recording uses a microphone foreground service with a status notification and a stop-and-save action. Please tell people around you before recording.

Audio (M4A), creation time, duration, recording mode and the linked script ID stay in app-private storage. We do not automatically upload audio or perform speech recognition or AI summaries. Playback is local; sharing and export happen only when you choose them.

5. Preparation website and temporary encrypted transfer

The preparation website extracts notes from a selected PPTX inside your browser. Selecting a file does not upload the original. When you send a script, the browser encrypts it with AES-256-GCM and sends ciphertext, an IV, token hashes and transfer expiry/claim state to the Cloudflare relay. The decryption key travels in the QR/code. The relay does not receive the key, plaintext script or original PPTX.

Transfers are valid for 10 minutes after creation. Ciphertext is deleted after the phone acknowledges saving or after cancellation. Expired transfers are blocked and cleaned up. An outage can delay physical cleanup; this does not promise immediate deletion of provider recovery copies or security access records. Abuse limits use an HMAC of the IP address; the application database does not store the raw IP address.

6. Optional permissions

PermissionPurposeWhen used
Nearby devices / BluetoothConnect to a PC you choose for input and live notes.PC connection or pairing
CameraRead a transfer QR locally, without saving or sending frames.QR reception
MicrophoneRecord presentation audio on the device. When you start recording
Notifications / microphone foreground serviceShow continued recording status and stop-and-save controls. When background recording is enabled

The app does not request location, contacts or full-storage access. Use code paste instead of the camera, and the remote and scripts without the microphone.

7. Advertising and protection for younger users

The free app displays Google AdMob banners below Present, Mouse and Materials. Google's ads SDK may collect and share IP addresses (including approximate location inference), ad interactions, diagnostics and device/account identifiers for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. See Google's disclosures below.

Before requesting ads, the app asks only for an age group, not a date of birth. The choice stays on the device and configures ad protection. Under-18 and undisclosed ages receive Google's protective treatment, restricting personalized ads, remarketing and advertising ID transmission. All ad requests have a maximum content rating of G. The SDK receives protection signals; we do not include scripts, recordings, PC identifiers or transfer secrets.

A consent form may appear according to your region and Google's requirements. Available ad consent can be managed or withdrawn in Settings under ad privacy choices. You can also change your age group. Declining ad consent does not prevent use of the remote or saved scripts.

8. Ad removal purchase

Ad removal is a non-consumable, one-time Google Play product with a US base price of US$5.99. The purchase screen shows the actual local price. Google Play handles payment; the app does not collect card details. The app verifies the product, package, completed purchase and signature, then saves ad-free status locally. Restore checks ownership with Play again. We do not run a separate receipt server or log purchase tokens or raw receipts.

9. Retention, deletion and choices

Scripts, recordings and preferences remain on the device until you delete them or clear app data. The app provides deletion of materials, recordings and recent PC records. You can revoke permissions or clear app data in Android settings. Deleting a recent PC record is separate from removing an operating-system Bluetooth pairing. Exported files and copies on other devices remain after in-app deletion.

QR camera frames are not saved or transmitted. The clipboard is read only when you choose Paste. Request bodies, scripts, keys, transfer tokens and QR codes are not included in diagnostic logs. Website preferences such as language may be stored in your browser.

10. Providers and international processing

Google provides ads, ad consent and Play purchase/restore services. Cloudflare hosts the website and temporary encrypted relay. Network connections can involve ordinary access information such as IP addresses, timestamps and browser/device details. Providers may process this information in countries where they operate, including the United States. Their policies describe processing locations, retention and security records. Application request logging is disabled; ciphertext retention follows the temporary transfer rules above.

You can use saved scripts and the Bluetooth remote without optional cloud transfer, advertising or purchases. Website visits and support email you choose to send also involve the relevant web and email providers.

11. Contact and changes

For privacy questions, rights requests or support, contact devsky@daolsoft.net. Your email address and message are processed to answer your inquiry. You do not need to attach private scripts or recordings. We update this policy and its effective date when features or providers change.
